Year 6 Transition
We are delighted that your son/daughter will be joining Oxted School as a Year 7 student in September 2021 and hope this will be the start of a very strong and positive working relationship between us and yourselves.
The transition to secondary school is an exciting start to a new phase of education – however we recognise that it can be a stressful time for families. The staff at Oxted School work hard to ensure that both students and parents/carers feel supported through this process.
You should have received an Admissions Pack and we ask that, if you have not already done so, you complete the forms and return them to school as soon as possible. Copies of the Admissions Pack can be found on the tabs on the right hand side of the page. If you have more than one child joining in Year 7, you will need to complete one set of forms for each child.
While an induction schedule of activities and dates has been designed, pending on the next Government announcement, we will need to be in touch with you nearer the time about those dates, given the current national situation. Throughout this intervening period, we will do our best to keep in touch with you.
Please do not hesitate to contact Mrs K Mullen, Admissions Manager on Kim.Mullen@oxted.thpt.org.uk who will be able to answer your question or direct you to the right person.
Welcome from Mrs S Ellis, Year 7 Pastoral Lead
I wanted to say hello and extend a very warm welcome to Oxted School. I hope you and your families are all safe and well.
We are very much looking forward to your child joining us at Oxted but can appreciate this is a very uncertain time. Children transitioning between school is challenging at the best of times without the added pressure of a global pandemic!
I would like to reassure you that as your child’s Senior Pastoral Lead, I am working very closely with our Senior Leadership Team and the Primary Schools to ensure transition is as smooth as possible and that we work in line with the social distancing rules to support your child in a positive transition. We will be meeting with all primary schools and the Year 6 teachers to share information, this is an important step in the transition process.
We will continue to regularly update you with any information regarding transition as and when we have it but please do also check the website for regular updates
I look forward to meeting you all.
Mrs S Ellis
